In order to have an enjoyable experience working at the farm, it is necessary to come prepared. We work in ALL weather conditions, and often have greenhouse or indoor work prepared in the case of storm events.

What to Bring

  • Shoes or Boots with hard soles - no sandals or open-toed shoes
  • Work Clothes - dress in layers to adapt to changing conditions, and bring rain gear if in the forecast
  • Any requirements for special medical conditions (inhaler, epi-pen) and alert staff before volunteering
  • Insects -
    • Bring repellant
    • Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants
    • Do frequent tick-checks
    • Don't wear perfumes or colognes (it attracts insects)
    • Don't bother bees, and they won't bother you
  • DRINK WATER - Bring a water bottle.  We do provide water coolers on very hot days
  • Hat, Scarf, and Sunscreen - Each one helps provide protection from the sun
  • Pace yourself - You know yourself best.  Listen to your body and take breaks as needed
  • Children - must be supervised at all times.  And children can be more sensitive to weather conditions
