For teens 13 - 17 years of age.

Through collaborative planning and implementation, teens take a leadership role in the Learning Garden on the farm - in winter, spring summer and fall! This special program designed just for teens encourages learning through shared experiences in agriculture, culinary arts, animal care, garden management, and explorations in food system equity and accessibility.

Project-based learning activities are focussed on empowering teens through skill building while exploring topics including social justice through equitable food systems, wellness & nutrition, environmental stewardship & protection, current climate-based events, and the impact of our food systems on our communities.  We also cuddle a lot of bunnies, make a lot of art, and train a lot of hens. New sessions begin each season!  Scholarships Available.

Being a Teen Educator in the Learning Garden helped me to learn and grow as a person. Not only was I teaching other people, but I was learning right along with them.  My favorite part about being a Learning Garden Educator now is seeing how people come into the Learning Garden initially and getting to watch them learn and grow and then leave with a better understanding of not just the plants and gardening but of themselves. The Learning Garden is the best place to grow.  I was given the opportunity to teach youth all about different kinds of plants, arts and crafts from nature, and how to eat and live more sustainably.   My time as an educator has taught me how to appreciate the relationship that humans have to nature and plants more, and it's also brought me closer to my community, as I feel like I've made many connections and formed relationships with a lot of amazing people.

I learned a lot about plants and cooking at Teen Corps.  I loved being a WFCF Teen Summer Educator. The kids were great and fun to teach, and I had a great time with them. All of my coworkers were very nice and supportive, leading to a great overall experience at the farm.
