About the Organization: Waltham Fields Community Farm (WFCF) is a nonprofit organization in its 31st year running a mixed vegetable farm as well as education and food access programs. WFCF adheres strictly to organic methods to manage 11 acres of farmland. 
 
About the Position: WFCF is seeking two flower work shares to help maintain our flower fields and support our first Bouquet CSA Share from June - October. This is a seasonal, hands-on role supporting the care and harvest of WFCF’s flower fields. This position works alongside the CSA Manager and Assistant Farm Manager to help maintain healthy, productive flower beds and create bouquets for our Flower CSA and retail Farm Stand. 
 
Responsibilities include: 
  • Weed, deadhead, and prune flowers to optimize production 
  • Assist with flower planting as needed 
  • Harvest and arrange 25 bouquets for CSA and Farm Stand weekly 
  • Work with volunteers to harvest and arrange bouquets as needed 
  • Follow guidance from CSA Manager and Assistant Farm Manager on flower harvesting and bouquet design 
  • Keep work areas clean and organized 
  • Alert CSA Manager and Assistant Farm Manager of any flower crop issues noticed while in the fields
Qualifications:
  • Experience with or interest in cut flowers or organic farming 
  • A strong work ethic and sense of urgency when completing tasks
  • Attention to detail when harvesting and arranging flowers 
  • Experience working with volunteers or in a management roll is a plus 
  • Reliable and punctual 
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in all kinds of weather 
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively on a team 
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and lifting
 
Schedule: 
June: 2 hours a week
July - September: 5 hours a week / Wed & Fri mornings
October: 2 hours a week 
 
Compensation: 10-Week CSA Share & 10-Week PYO Flower Share
