About the Organization:
Waltham Fields Community Farm (WFCF) is a nonprofit organization in its 31st year running a mixed vegetable farm as well as education and food access programs. WFCF adheres strictly to organic methods to manage 11 acres of farmland.
About the Position:
WFCF is seeking a hardworking, customer service minded individual to join our CSA & Farm Stand team this season. From June - October, WFCF provides a weekly CSA to over 400 families here on the farm. The CSA Assistant will support in all aspects of CSA operations to make this program a success. Prior farming or CSA experience is not required, but applicants should feel just as comfortable with the physical demands of farming as they do with providing exceptional customer service to all guests & shareholders.
Responsibilities Include:

Provide support to the Farm Stand & CSA Manager in overseeing daily CSA operations

Follow CSA opening, closing and record keeping procedures

Check in CSA shareholders and provide weekly pickup and Pick-Your-Own information

Keep produce bins well-stocked and tidy throughout the shift while maintaining quality and minimizing waste

Follow food safety guidelines for proper produce handling

Maintain open communication with the Farm Manager about CSA produce, field updates, and crop quality

Assist in management of CSA & Farm Stand staff

Create a warm and welcoming environment for all guests on the farm

Actively engage with shareholders about their CSA experience, recipes, and farm news

Answer questions about WFCF programs, events, products we sell, farming practices, and CSA Shares

Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a kind and professional manner

Accurately process transactions using our Square Point-of-Sale (POS) system (including SNAP & FMNP)

Confidently manage all aspects of CSA distribution when Farm Stand Manager is not present
Qualifications:

Experience with or interest in organic vegetable production, farm stand sales, and/or seasonal cooking

Experience in a retail, food service, or other customer service environment is preferred

A friendly and welcoming demeanor and desire to engage with guests on the farm

A strong work ethic, ability to prioritize, and a sense of urgency when completing tasks

Reliable and punctual

A positive attitude and good sense of humor

Willingness to work in all kinds of weather

Ability to work cooperatively in a team

Prior management experience is preferred

Ability to lift up to 50 lb. and do heavy lifting repeatedly and safely
Compensation:

$18/hour

Staff receive a 20% discount at our farm store
Schedule:
Wednesday-Saturday 6-8 hour shifts
Must be available to work Saturdays, plus 2-3 additional shifts.
