BE PREPARED FOR A GREAT ON-FARM EXPERIENCE!

  • No sandals or open-toe/peep-toe shoes, please. Protect those feet!
  • Dress in layers to adapt to changing conditions, and bring rain gear if in the forecast. We work in the rain (thunderstorms or heavy weather, we will reach out to cancel or reschedule).
  • You will likely be getting dusty/dirty/muddy/sweaty, depending on the conditions that day. It is advised to bring a change of clothing if you are going somewhere immediately afterward that requires you to be clean and tidy!
  •  Stay hydrated! Bring your own refillable water bottle. On warm days we will have a cooler of fresh water for refills. We discourage the use of single-use plastic bottles.
  • Sun protection is important, even on cloudy days!
  • Don't forget to bring any personal medical items if needed (e.g.. inhaler, epi-pen) if working outdoors where exposure to bees, pollen, etc. may be possible. You are responsible for your own administration of these medical devices. Please alert staff before volunteering if you have special concerns.
  • Pace yourself - you know yourself best.  Listen to your body and take breaks as needed.
  • Children must be supervised at all times. If you are in a group and not part of the all-ages drop-in volunteers, you must check in advance that it is OK for your child to attend.
  • If you like to work with gloves, feel free to bring your own. We will have disposable gloves, also.
  • We greatly prefer that you do not check your cell phone or take calls in the fields. Using phones to take a photo or two of your awesome experience is definitely OK! If you need to take a call, feel free to remove yourself from the fields to do so.
  •  COVID: The use of masks is optional both indoors and outside. We reserve the right to change our safety procedures at any time. Your volunteer service will be primarily outside.
